How To Speak To A Live Audience Without Loosing Your Nerves

Speaking to a live audience can be quite difficult if you are not used to it.  The key is to relax and speak slowly – take your time and don’t worry about having gaps in your speaking if it does happen.

What you need to do before you speak is not to write down every word but instead to write an outline of what you are speaking about.

Here is an example:

  1. Intro – Give an outline about what you are talking about.
  2. Why – tell your audence why they should know what you are going to let them know (whats in it for me?)
  3. What – what it is – the details, the science, facts behind it
  4. How – how it is done, what are the specific action steps
  5. What happens – what happens when you take those steps in the real world
  6. Exit – thank you and either next topic or goodbye

This is based on the 4mat system – you get the idea of how you can achieve an effective presentation.

Here is some more tips:

Practice makes perfect

You can’t be a great speaker overnight but after doing it a few times you will get better and better.

Tone of voice

Vary the tone of your voice to make it sound interesting – focus on extending the length of your vowels and the pitch of your voice.

This was short but sweet, i hope you found this interesting.
